Hey team,
It’s Callum.
Hope you’re doing really well.
Last week I did something a little wierd…
I filmed my ENTIRE week and published it to the internet.
Why?
When thinking about content I think you have 2 options:
1) Provide high value information
give people a LOGICAL reason to follow you:
"this person provides me with useful information"
Or...
2) Story tell
give people an EMOTIONAL reason to follow you:
"I like following this person's story and journey"
My main content output is an interview podcast.
This seeks to provide high value information to my audience.
It's biggest weakness?
Emotional connection with the host.
The podcast can become transactional.
The audience comes and goes depending on the value offered by each interview.
There is little loyalty or personal connection with me.
It's a common problem with interview based podcasts.
The solution?
Solo podcast episodes are one way.
They build that 1-2-1 time.
Another fun solution is vlogging - taking your audience behind the scenes with you.
Let them into your life.
Sharing personal thoughts and challenges.
They can follow along the ride, get bought into your story.
bUt I dOn't HaVe TiMe!
How hard is this?
Vlogs are relatively low lift.
You can buy a DJI Osmo and film what you're up to.
You're doing your normal work week and just filming it.
I call this 'selling the sawdust'.
It's often more valuable to see how someone does something than have them tell you how they do it.
There's no new effort required.
You’re creating something from your ‘Sawdust’.
How did it turn out?
It's not perfect but it's an experiment:
i’m curious what you think?
Would you like to see more of them?
That’s all for now.
Hope you have an amazing week.
I’m rooting for you.
Callum
Let´s go! =)
